Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou born Beaumont, Puy-deDomme France in August 9th 1976. Audrey is the largest child in a family of four. Her parents encouraged her parents, a dentist and teacher and both of them were teachers. They encouraged her to follow her love of theatre. This was in contrast to an earlier desire to become a primateologist because she was a fan of monkeys. As a young woman the rise to fame was rapid and marked with initial successes. After completing her degree she was invited to take part in Jeunes Premiers which is a French TV talent-scouting programme sponsored by Canal+. There she won the award for Best Young Actress in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. The result was that she decided to pursue a professional career as an actor. Tautou attended the Institut Catholique de Paris, attended church in her youth and was raised Catholic. However she has since gotten away from the Catholic tradition. She pursued a modelling career in addition to her acting work and is the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc and Chanel frequently referred to as the Chanel Muse. She also has a serious passion for photography. She recently produced an exhibition of her work at the Arles Festival with the name Superficial. Her photography is focused on famous people, the media and press that scrutinised her following her rise to fame with Amelie. There are also a number of photographs featuring her self. Audrey Tautou became a star and was recognized internationally for her role debut as Amelie Poulain in the film Le Fabuleux Destination d'Amelie. Amelie has been undoubtedly a huge box office smash internationally and recognized at many awards shows around the world. Amelie has been the most financially successful french-language film to hit the US. The success of this movie brought Tautou into a wide range of roles, including British dramas as Dirty Pretty Things by Stephen Knight and Jean Pierre Jeunet to Hollywood's The Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks.
