Ashley was born in San Clemente, California on the 10th of February, 1987. Before going to Hawaii her first time surfing was when she was five years old. The year was 2006 and she took home an event in surfing using a board she found inside an empty garbage container. She began surfing at the age of 5 and by the age of 6 had won her first contest By age 7 she landed a sponsorship. She was born in San Clemente California, she relocated to Hawaii.
